The Hyundai Alcazar is expected to have a big impact in the 7-seater SUV segment

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) is preparing to launch the Alcazar in India next month. The three-row SUV is based on the well-received second-generation Creta mid-size SUV, and it was supposed to debut a few weeks ago, but the return of the health crisis forced the country’s second-largest automaker to postpone its plans.

• The Alcazar will be available in six and seven-seater configurations, with minor outward differences from the Creta. The Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus, and the new Mahindra XUV700 will all be competitors. The Hyundai Alcazar, unlike some of its competitors, has a long wheelbase, which allows for the extra inside room as well as huge boot space. 
• It will be driven by 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol and a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine and is expected to make a big impact in the seven-seater SUV market. In the Creta, the former produces 115 PS and 144 Nm of peak torque, while the latter produces 115 PS and 250 Nm of peak torque. There will be six-speed manual and automatic transmissions available.

The Alcazar’s interior will include a big 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, BlueLink in-car connective technology, steering-mounted controls, wireless charging capability, panoramic sunroof, cruise control, automatic climate control, push-button start/stop, and more.

• In the middle row six-seater form, the Hyundai Alcazar also has a center armrest with cupholders, six airbags, a bevvy of assistive and safety systems, a longer rear overhang with a prominent quarter window, a modified front grille, modified front and back bumpers, freshly designed alloy wheels, and so on.
• The Alcazar will most likely help Hyundai Motor Group keep its position as the country’s leading seller of SUVs in the near future, as competition in the seven-seater SUV sector will only intensify in the coming years as more manufacturers seek a sweet spot.
