Covid-19 caused 115,736 new cases: the highest number ever reported

On Tuesday, India recorded 115,736 new cases of the novel coronavirus, the highest number so far. Maharashtra reported 55,469 cases, while Chhattisgarh reported 9,921 cases, a new record. More than 5,000 cases were registered in Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi, respectively. The total number of cases in India is now 1,28,01,785, with 8,43,473 active cases and 1,17,92,135 people who have recovered from the virus. On Tuesday, at least 630 people died, bringing the total death toll in the world to 1,66,177. Maharashtra accounted for nearly half of the deaths (297) on Tuesday.
