UP Police has registered a case against Sambhal Lok Sabha MP Shafiqur Rahman Barq from Sambhal Lok Sabha constituency of Uttar Pradesh. The SP MP has been accused of comparing the Taliban to the freedom fighters of India.
It was complained that MP Shafiqur Rahman Barq compared Taliban to India's freedom fighters. Such statements qualify as sedition. So FIR registered against him u/s 124A (sedition), 153A, 295 IPC. Taliban liberated Afghanistan – SP MP Shafiqur Rahman Barq
- SP MP Shafiqur Rahman Barq said on Tuesday that when India was under British rule, our country fought for independence. Now the Taliban wants to run their country independently.
- Taliban is such a power, which has not allowed even strong countries like Russia and America to stay in their country.
Shafiqur Rahman clarified
- After the registration of the case, Sambhal MP Shafiqur Rahman Burq said that ‘I have not made any such statement (comparing Taliban with Indian freedom fighters’).
- My statement has been misinterpreted. I am a citizen of India, not Afghanistan, so I have nothing to do with what is happening there. I support the policies of my government.

Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya retaliated
- BJP leader and Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Keshav Prasad Maurya retaliated on SP MP Shafiqur Rahman’s statement supporting Taliban. Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya said that ‘anything can happen in the Samajwadi Party. If someone has said then there is no difference between them and Pakistan PM Imran Khan.
On Sunday, Taliban fighters captured Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan. Since then, the peace system in Kabul has completely collapsed. There is an atmosphere of fear among Afghan citizens seeing the return of the regime that existed two decades ago in Afghanistan.
