The Maharashtra government on Wednesday (April 28) extended the lockdown-like curbs in the state till May 15 to contain the spread of the COVID-19 infection state Health Minister Rajesh Tope said.

He said that all the members of the cabinet who attended the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray worked for such expansion.
All members of the Maharashtra cabinet are of the view that the current COVID-19 restrictions “Maharashtra Lockdown” should be extended for the next 15 days, Tope told reporters.
Today, the number (of daily affairs) is more than 60,000. There is some stability. We had previously estimated that (daily) cases may exceed 70,000. But this has not happened Tope said.

The Maharashtra government on Wednesday decided to provide anti-COVID-19 vaccines for free to the people in the age group of 18 to 44 years, Tope said. However, he clarified that the vaccination of ages 18-44 won’t begin from May 1 as announced by the Centre.
The use of local trains has also been restricted. Earlier on 21 April, when the restrictions were announced, Western Railway tweeted, “Railways will limit the number of entry and exit points at stations in Mumbai to prevent unauthorized people from traveling in local trains, as Maharashtra Government’s new COVID-19 forces apply.
