About Maa Kushmanda
- This incarnation of Goddess Durga is believed to have created the universe with a smile that radiated incredible energy.
- She also symbolizes a divine spark. Devotees offer prayers to Goddess Kushmanda to achieve salvation.
- She is hailed as the one who dispels darkness to give birth to light. The word Kushmanda in Sanskrit is made of two words – Ku (little), ushma (energy or heat), and anda (egg).
- Kushmanda’s pictorial depiction shows her with eight hands, and hence she is also called Ashtabhuja Devi.
- She holds a lotus, bow, and arrow, and a kamandal in the right hands and a discus, mace, a jaapmala, and a Kalash in the left hand.
