If tricolor fungus, decreased lung capacity and clots in the arteries of the limbs, heart, and brain weren't enough, COVID-19 patients are now getting intestinal clots and gangrene. In Mumbai's city hospitals, nearly a dozen cases have been treated by physicians and surgeons, according to a report in the Times of India, who caution that complaints of unexplained abdominal pain should be investigated. Studies have shown that about 16-30 percent of COVID-19 patients also have gastrointestinal symptoms and have minimal to no symptoms. Patients with intestinal clots may come down with acute mesenteric ischemia, a rare abdominal emergency associated with high rates of morbidity and mortality.
