As the boom in COVID-19 cases ICMR chief says most of the country will remain closed for 6-8 weeks

The head of the country's main health agency responding to coronaviruses, Drs Balaram Bhargava head of ICMR has said that districts reporting a high number of infections should remain closed for the next six to eight weeks to control the spread of the pervasive disease. The head of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Drs. Bhargava said in an interview that the lockdown ban should apply in all districts where the infection rate is above 10% of those tested. Currently, three-quarters of India's 718 districts are known to have test-positivity rates greater than 10%, including major cities such as New Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru's tech hubs. DCGI Has Approved The Emergency Use of DRDO Developed 2-DG as an Alternative Therapy for Covid-19 Patients

The drug controller general of India, DCGI has approved the emergency use of DRDO developed drug 2-deoxy-D-glucose as an adjunct therapy for covid-19 patients in moderate to severe conditions, said defense research and development organization on Saturday, 8 May. "Being a generic molecule and analogue of glucose, it can be easily produced and made available in plenty," said the DRDO in a statement. The Indian medical council of research brings a new set of guidelines for the RT-PCR testing amid covid-19 surge and an uncontrollable rise in every day’s cases.
