Assam CM launches SISU SEVA ACHONI For the Covid – 19 Orphans

Key Highlights – 

  • Assam Cheif Minister has Launches the SISU SEVA ACHONI for the Covid – 19 Orphan Childrens across the state. 
  • Although on Friday, Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has launched a scheme to provide relief to the children, who have lost their parents due to Covid – 19. 
  • Therefore, according to this scheme, the state government will grant the financial aid of Rupees 3500/- And laptops/Tablets to every child. 

  • Although under this scheme, those children who have lost their parents due to covid will be nurtured by their extended family member and will be given the financial help for rupees 3500 per month by the Assam Government. 
  • Moreover, children below the age of 10 years without any family support will be provided shelter at child care institutions. They will have access to the required educational facilities under this scheme. 
  • The scheme was announced coinciding with the completion of seven years by the NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

  • Addressing a press meet at Assam Administrative Staff College in Guwahati, Dr Sarma said, “We have not differentiated anything among APL, BPL or government servants. It is a scheme for everybody.”

  • “If the sole bread-earner of the family dies, we will provide Rs 3,500 per month to their family. It will be provided till they attain the level of employment,” Sarma said while announcing Mukhyamantri Sishu Sewa Achoni for the children orphaned by COVID-19.

  • Furthermore, “If the child is a girl, then the government would give one ‘tola’ of gold and Rs 50 thousand at her age of marriage. In addition to Rs 3,500 or hostel education, every such child will get a laptop,” CM Sarma announced.
