The tradition of Homemade chutney been lost?

Chutney adds a bounce to the flavor of every Indian cuisine and is preferred by most individuals in India. Chutney is sweet, spicy, sour in taste and is prepared by using fruits, vegetables, spices, chilies, sugar, vinegar, herbs, nuts, etc., It is believed that homemade chutney is way better than any chutney which is made in a mixer grinder/blender. But, because of the busy lives, people look for the easiest and less time-consuming process. They opt for convenience and go for mixer grinders to prepare chutney as they are less time-consuming and less messy. In this hustle, and fully occupied working lives, Is the originality of chutney adrift or missing?

Chutney is mostly known for its refreshing and incredible taste but it is beneficial for health as well. It is considered delicious and nutritious too.

Rujuta Diwekar (celebrity nutritionist), said in her Instagram video “ It’s a delicious method of introducing spices, fiber, and phytonutrients that are otherwise hard to find and difficult to assimilate for the body.”

Accumulating chutney to your food not only helps to deal with sweet cravings that arise after meals, resulting in weight gain and many other health-related issues. But also reduces afternoon droops. All the magical ingredients (spices, vegetables, fruits, nuts, etc.,) are crushed together on an object which is made up of stone named grinding stone to make chutney. Hence, making it lip-smacking, appetizing, heavenly delightful, and healthy.

Micronutrients like sterols and flavonoids are found in chutney. These are beneficial in numerous ways and among them, a few are listed below:

  • It has anti-aging properties which help in declining oxidative stress.
  • Boosts gut bacteria.
  • Improves fertility.
  • Helps in the improvement of insulin sensitivity.
  • It betters the skin problems such as acne and pigmentation.

One must adapt and add chutney in their meals, to derive the super beneficial nutrients. And to reap these advantages, the chutney prepared must be pounded in a grinding stone, not the mixer grinder. Mixer grinder runs through electricity and when ingredients are chored in a mixer grinder, all the benefits of chutney’s micronutrients are harmed or damaged partly, if not fully. So, to gain the magical nutrients of chutney in a proper manner, start pounding chutney in a stone or wood grinder.
