In the following months, the new Hyundai AX1 micro-SUV will be unveiled in worldwide markets, and some teaser photographs have already been released. The micro-SUV will first be available in South Korea, before being introduced to other foreign markets. We’ve collated all the information we have on this micro-SUV so far, as Hyundai is anticipated to launch it in India in the near future.

1. It will be more compact than the Venue.

While its exact dimensions have yet to be announced, the AX1 is estimated to be between 3.7 and 3.8 meters long. This would make it far smaller than the Venue compact SUV, which is a little under 4 meters long. The AX1 will be positioned below the Venue in Hyundai’s model lineup. Intriguingly, the AX1 is expected to be built on Hyundai’s K1 platform, which is also utilized in India for the Santro and Grand i10 Nios.

2. It will be styled in a unique way that appeals to young people.

The AX1 micro-SUV will clearly have a unique exterior, as evidenced by spy photos and teaser shots. An upright and boxy body shell with rounded-off corners, a huge glasshouse, a flat bonnet, and a split-headlight design are some of the unusual design features visible on the test mules. The headlight will be a circular projector unit with an LED DRL ring situated in the lower half of the bumper, according to the teasers. The turn indicators will most likely be housed in the upper light cluster, similar to how they are in the Venue. The teaser for the taillights displays a triangular design, which is most likely formed by LED modules.

3. It will include a list of competitive features.

Given Hyundai’s recent track record, the AX1 micro-SUV is expected to include a slew of amenities, many of which will likely overlap with those seen in the Grand i10 Nios. The AX1 could have an 8.0-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a rear-view camera, keyless enter and go, wireless charging, a chilled glovebox, power-folding mirrors, and other goodies on higher models.

4. It is expected to come with only petrol engines

Hyundai is anticipated to use the same 1.2-liter four-cylinder naturally aspirated engine in the India-spec AX1 as it does in the Grand i10 Nios (where it produces 83hp and 114Nm). In order to keep prices down, the Korean automaker could offer lower-cost versions of the micro-SUV with Santro’s 1.1-litre three-cylinder petrol engine. The 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine, which is already available in the Nios and Venue in India, is expected to be included in the AX1 for the worldwide market. However, the model for our market is not likely to have this engine choice at this time.
