On the fourth Thursday in 1863 Abraham Lincoln the 16th President of America announced national Thanksgiving Day. This is one of the most important annual holidays in the US.

Thanksgiving kicks off a month-long shopping festival for the winter holidays with the start of the Black Friday season.

Native Americans and protesters have also marked the holiday as a “National Day of Mourning” since the 1970s, remembering those who died at the hands of foreign settlers when the Americas were colonized.
