Self-styled Godman Asaram Bapu admitted to the hospital

Asaram Bapu who was accused of raping a 16-year-old girl and is locked in jail for sexual molestation case has been hospitalized at Mahatma Gandhi hospital in Jodhpur on Tuesday after complaining of chest pain, insomnia, body ache, and uneasiness. He also reported health issues before like blood pressure and knee pain.

The 77-year-old Asaram Bapu was then immediately rushed to the casualty and there he got his X-ray and ECG treatments done. After three hours of treatment and under proper observation, everything was normal and the reports also came normal. He was taken back to the Central Jail after the treatments.

This all happened in the courtroom proceedings during the verdict by the special judge Madhu Sudan Sharma, a specialist in SC/ST cases, in Jodhpur Central Jail.

The self-styled Godman Asaram Bapu was lodged for sexual molestation and found himself guilty under section 376 of the Indian Penal Code and the protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. In 2018, he was penalized with lifetime imprisonment and charged a fine of Rs. 1 Lakh in a special court of Jodhpur where he was accused of rape cases. He is charged with two sexual assault cases, one in Rajasthan and another in Gujarat.

When this news came in front of the public, the bhakts or the supporters of Asaram Bapu crowded outside the hospital to have a glimpse of their God and didn’t move until he went back to the jail.

As per the sources, after Asaram Bapu got admitted to the hospital, he didn’t appear for the hearing in court. Somehow, he managed to present in the court today, but the hearings got postponed, considering the health of Asaram Bapu. Asaram Bapu’s medical tests are still going on and his spokesperson Neelam Dubey told to ABP News that they will challenge the verdict.

A request has been made by the spiritual guru’s counsel to the court that considering his degraded health and his old age, be sympathetic and lenient while granting the punishment whereas, the victim’s advocate asked for maximum punishment for him.

The decision is on hold for now, soon the court will announce punishment in their next hearing.
