Prices, features, and a release date for the new Mercedes EQB 2022 have been announced

The Mercedes EQB is an all-electric SUV with seven seats. When it goes on sale in late 2021, it will be a viable alternative to the Volkswagen ID4, BMW iX3, and Tesla Model Y. It is the latest in Mercedes’ rising line of electric EQ models, and it is essentially an electric version of the GLB.

  • Design: The Mercedes EQB has a similar overall profile to the GLB on which it is built, but there are a few differences to differentiate it as an electric vehicle. You’ll note the front grille is blanked off — after all, there’s no need to cool an engine with a three-pointed Mercedes star in the center. Below that is a curved intake with headlights that closely match the front end’s rounded shape.
  • Batteries and Range: The Mercedes EQB 350 will be available at launch with a 66.5kWh battery pack. It will have a range of up to 297 miles and will be compatible with 100kW rapid charging. You can charge the batteries from 10% to 80% capacity in 30 minutes using this method. However, Mercedes has indicated that the EQB will be available in “several configurations,” so expect to see a few more variants unveiled before the car goes on sale in late 2021. Front-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive models will be available, with the most powerful generating more than 272 horsepower.

  • Interior and Infotainment: The Mercedes EQB’s interior is almost identical to that of the GLB, with a few tweaks to give it its own personality. Blue lighting strips and stitching, as well as new dashboard trims, are dotted around the cabin to remind you that this is a Mercedes EQ model. Mercedes’ MBUX infotainment system is included, as well as a multimedia driver’s monitor with two 10-inch displays and support for the ‘Hey Mercedes’ voice assistant. Sat nav is also a basic feature, allowing you to program your routes to include fast public charging stations. The Mercedes EQB is a five-seat electric car by default, but a third row can be added to make it a seven-seater. Anyone 5 feet 4 inches and under will be able to ride comfortably in this electric family vehicle, according to Mercedes.
  • Price and Release date: In late 2021, the Mercedes EQB will be available in Europe. There’s no news on pricing yet, but expect it to cost more than the smaller EQA’s £43,495 starting price — probably more than £45,000.
