PM Narendra Modi will meet CMs on April 8 to discuss the covid surge

PM Narendra Modi will meet the CMs of all states on Thursday, April 8, to discuss the constant increase in a surge of covid-19 countrywide. India is observing the covid cases are increasing rapidly. 

As of Monday, India reported one lakh new cases and became the second country after the US to report six times new cases in a day.  

Hence, keeping the view of the drastic rise in covid infection, the prime minister will meet CMs of all states to discuss the current covid-19 situation and vaccination progress, as per the PTI sources quoted.

Although, the last meeting of PM with CMs was on March 17. When he conveyed his concern over the rise of covid infection in every state of the country and called for a “quick and decisive” step to analyze the “second peak”

On Sunday, PM Narendra Modi chaired a distinguished meeting over the current scenario of covid-situations and quoted, that community awareness is important for the tackling of the pandemicuuuuuModi talked about his five-fold strategy of testing, tracing, treatment, covid- appropriate behavior, and vaccination. He said, if these five strategies are implemented properly, with full enthusiasm and commitment, would be effective in suppressing the spread of infection. According to an official statement after the meeting. 

What are the reasons for the covid surge

  • Declining in covid appropriate behavior
  • Pandemic fatigue
  • Lack of effective implementation of containment measures

Dr harsh Vardhan will also interact with health ministers

Dr harsh Vardhan, the union health minister will also interact with the health ministers of the worst affected states in a meeting. 

There are 11 worst affected states including Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, and Rajasthan. 

Maharashtra is the highest affected city in terms of new cases over 57,074, which is half of the total cases reported countrywide. The other states and cities are also reporting the constant rise in covid infection. 

The government rushes 50 high-level health team to three states

The central government has combined up 50 high-level multi-disciplinary public health teams and sent them to 50 districts across Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, and Punjab for tackling the surge of covid. 

The teams have been rushed to 30 districts of Maharashtra, 11 districts of Chhattisgarh, and nine districts of Punjab, to assist the health departments and local authorities in surveillance of covid-19, control and containment measures, the health ministry said on Monday. 

“The teams will visit the states immediately and monitor the overall implementation of covid-19 management, especially in testing, including surveillance and containment operations, covid appropriate behavior and its enforcement, availability of hospital beds, sufficient logistics, including ambulance, ventilators, medical oxygen, etc. and covid-19 vaccination progress, “ the ministry said. 

The central government has appointed three nodal officers for Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, and Punjab.

The special health team will report and assist the nodal officers for threes states, the ministry said. 

Surge of covid-19

During the constant rise of the spread of covid-19 infections, states and union territories have imposed restrictions to lead the situations under control. 

On the other hand, many states and union territories including Delhi, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, and Punjab have announced the closure of schools and suspension of classes for an indefinite period.  

Furthermore, on Sunday Maharashtra also have announced lockdown situations on the weekends.
