The Triumph Trident 660 was launched in India at a price of Rs. 6.95 lakh (ex-showroom, India). As a result, it is less expensive than the Street Twin and joins Triumph’s lineup as the cheapest choice. However, this is an introductory price that will most certainly rise in the coming months.
The Trident is the British company’s all-new entry-level naked roadster, which was unveiled last year and has been available for booking in India since November 2020. It pays homage to the Trident classic roadster, which debuted in 1969 and competed with the Honda CB750. The new Trident 660, like the old Trident, is powered by a triple-cylinder engine rather than the double-cylinder unit used on the Street Twin. Triumph’s newest roadster will be up against some stiff competition.
- Design: With its round headlamp, curvy fuel tank, and large handlebars, the Trident 660 is a neo-retro roadster that looks the part. However, the bike’s minimalist styling, which includes thigh indents on the fuel tank, a short step-up saddle, a rear tire hugger, a swingarm, and blacked-out mechanical parts, gives it a futuristic appeal. The motorcycle’s aesthetics are further enhanced by beefy forks, a big engine block, and an underslung exhaust.
- Features: The Triumph Trident 660 has a TFT instrument panel with all the requisite readouts such as speed, tachometer, gear position indicator, fuel gauge, and so on. The roadster also has two riding modes: Rain and Road, which change the throttle map and traction control settings depending on which mode is selected. A switchable traction control system and ride-by-wire for precise throttle response are also included on the bike. However, if you want the MyTriumph networking suite on your bike, you’ll have to pay a premium.
- Specifications: A 660 cc triple-cylinder engine produces 80 bhp at 10,250 rpm and 64 Nm of peak torque at 6,250 rpm, powering the Trident 660. According to the business, nearly 90% of peak torque is available between 3,600 and 9,750 rpm, resulting in good mid-range output. The three-cylinder engine is mated to a six-speed manual transmission with a slip and assist clutch.
- Colour Options: Crystal White with Diablo Red and Jet Black decals, Silver Ice and Diablo Red with Black decals, Sapphire Black with Diablo Red and Aluminium Silver decals, Matt Jet Black and Matt Silver Ice with White decals.
