BMW has teased the 2 Series Coupe, claiming that it is nearing the end of its development cycle as it prepares to enter series production. The dynamic testing and tuning of the new BMW 2 Series Coupé’s drive and suspension systems under racetrack conditions have begun the final step of the series development process. The BMW 2 Series Coupe will come with a rear-wheel-drive setup, a powerful in-line 6-cylinder engine, and expect it to be dynamic in terms of the way it drives.

BMW will start producing the 2 Series Coupe in 2021, and while we don’t see much of it in these photos, we can expect the two-door model to follow the company’s current design language. The test and tuning drives on the Nurburgring’s Nordschleife served as the ultimate test for wheel suspension, frame, damping, steering, and braking system during the construction of the new BMW 2 Series Coupe.

The production and test engineers ensure that the engine’s performance characteristics go hand in hand with precisely controllable handling in all situations, fascinating cornering dynamics, optimized traction in all weather and road conditions, and perfectly balanced ride comfort by thoroughly testing all drives and chassis systems. Simultaneously, the car is fine-tuned to improve self-steering and dynamics while applying lateral acceleration forces.

The M240i xDrive will be the M edition of the upcoming BMW 2 Series Coupe. An in-line 6-cylinder petrol engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology will power this one. It will produce 374 horsepower, with the 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission assisting in the transfer of that power to the wheels. The BMW M model uses the BMW xDrive all-wheel-drive system to bring its power to the track.
