The union ministers Ramesh pokhriyal ‘nishank’, Smriti Irani with Piyush Goyal has jointly launched a website on Thursday. This is first India’s toy fair – 2021 to be organized from February 27 to March 2. This event is the country’s first such event to be held virtually. This event took place at the national media center in New Delhi, which was also screaming at the internet itself.
The website ‘theindiantoyfair’ will allow – children, toymakers, innovators, students, teachers, parents, and exhibitors to register themselves in that online portal. It will provide a platform to buyers and sellers for direct sale and purchase across the country. Although other people can also take part in a series of activities such as – online quizzes and competitions to improve their skills. At the inauguration of this event, the union minister Ramesh pokhriyal has explained the initiative of indigenous as he pointed out the’ 30% of imported toys had a very high amount of chemicals, which is dangerous for the kids and the environment. Due to this; the government has imposed the import duty from 20% to 60%.’ he also added that toys play an important in the formative years of the children. The toy industries have a great future ahead. He said that India has a huge demand for toys, almost 80% of toys are being imported.
At the launch event, women and child development minister Smriti Irani expressed that ‘ we are making efforts to empower and strengthen the toy industries under the guidance of prime minister Narendra Modi to fulfill the dream of ‘ Aatmanirbhar Bharat’.
