Fuel prices have been raised by the oil marketing companies today on 21 May after a break of two days. The rise of petrol today is 19 paise per liter while diesel is now costly by another 29 paise per liter.
Summing up, the petrol prices in Delhi is now at Rs. 93.04 while diesel’s Rs 83.80 per liter. While in Mumbai petrol is of Rs 99.32 and diesel at Rs 91.01, according to officials.

The prices of petrol and diesel have risen over the past 18 days by 2.64 per liter on petrol and 3.07 on diesel. For the past two days, the fuel prices remained unchanged after a rush on May 18.
The prices of fuel vary across different states according to the local taxation like value-added tax. Rajasthan charges the highest value-added tax on petrol countrywide, followed by Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.
State and central taxes make up for 60% of the retail selling price of petrol and over 54% of diesel.
The stare runs oil marketing companies- Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan petroleum- decide the rates of domestic fuel against global crude oil prices by taking into account changes in foreign exchange rates.
