BMW M340i
Another BMW 3 Series version is set to be launched on March 10. But this new model is thoroughly driver-focused, unlike the 3 Series Gran Limousine. The M340i is the first locally assembled ‘M’ car from BMW. This isn’t a purebred M car, but it’s a blend of versatility and driving thrills every day.
The M340i features a 3.0-liter straight-six engine that produces 374PS and 500Nm. It is coupled with an automatic 8-speed transmission with power being guided to all four corners. Acceleration is frenzied, arriving at 0-100kmph in just 4.4 seconds! The basic M output exhaust system also ensures that while climbing up your favorite mountain route, you will be followed by euphoria.
It sits on a stiffer M Sport suspension than the regular vehicle, which should impart less body roll. Around the twisties, the variable steering wheel can encourage greater agility. Meanwhile, behind those M-branded wheels for better deceleration are the updated M Sport brakes. Last but not least, the M Sport differential means that it sends the most grip-rich strength to the wheel.
The M340i is quite similar to 330i M Sport, except for the badge, you’ll be hard-pressed to say the difference. The M340i is a suitable sleeper. In simple words, before the M340i starts picking up its speed, everyone might mistake it for the regular 3 Series.
Given that the BMW M340i is being assembled locally in India, we expect it to be aggressively priced at around Rs 75 lakhs (ex-showroom). Yeah, it’s not cheap, but this is evidence that efficiency is becoming more cost-effective. With the Mercedes-AMG C43 Coupe, the M340i will lock horns.
