The luxury car manufacturer in Germany has removed the wraps from its e-tron GT, which aims to raise performance levels by several notches while mutating concerns about range anxieties that are often prevalent with electric vehicles. With 470 hp of peak power, the Audi e-tron GT is the most powerful EV the car manufacturer has ever produced. Opt for the variant of the RS – yeah, that’s also there, and the number leaps to 590 hp. In both models, the inclusion of an overboost mode brings the number up to 522 hp and a startling 637 hp, respectively.

Since the Audi e-tron GT can weigh about 5,100 pounds or 2300 kilos, it can sprint to add shame to weight watchers. 100 kmph is available in the RS version in 4.1 seconds and 3.3 seconds. In overboost mode, there is a total of 630 Nm of torque for the taking and an additional 10 Nm. On the other hand, the RS edition features 830 Nm of torque.

At the heart of the Audi e-tron GT, these impressive figures are mainly made possible by a 93kWh battery pack. It uses 800-volt technology and Audi claims that not only does the driver manage to extract the best possible output, but that the vehicle can also be recharged in five minutes with a fast-charger can increase the range to 100 km, while the car’s battery can be operated overnight by a regular 11 kW AC unit.

As for the range itself, Audi notes that without the need to be plugged in, the e-tron GT would be able to go 487 kms. And whether on the run or just standing still, due to its beautiful looks, the Audi e-tron GT is most likely to turn heads as well.

Since the e-tron GT and Taycan were co-developed by Audi and Porsche, both part of the Volkswagen group of companies, both EVs have the same chassis and the same J1 EV battery platform.

The e-cabin tron’s is as spacious and as futuristic as one might expect from a new-gen Audi vehicle. The digital instrument cluster of a 12.3 inch Audi virtual cockpit is combined with a 10.1-inch touchscreen. This takes care of the specifications of infotainment and assists with navigation, including the hunt for the nearest charging station.

In the spring of this year, the Audi e-tron GT will be sold in European markets and officials of the organization expect a good response. However, there is no news about its launch in India anytime soon.
