On February 24, for the First time in Uttar Pradesh, several women have been shortlisted to drive state buses run by Uttar Pradesh state roadways transport corporation. 

When the pink express bus service was launched in the state. As the service was meant to provide a safe travel option for women with the women staff board only.  Since there were no certified bus conductors, staff and women drivers. Now onwards, after long research, there have been 19 women shortlisted to serve their service. 

S.P. Singh, the principle of the UPSRTC model driving training and research institute in Kanpur. He said that ‘’ the process of trained women bus staff is initiated in the UP for the first time in a while.‘’ 

19 women had been selected for driving state buses and will undergo 17 months of scheduled training.

Under the PM’s mission of skill India, women under the age of 18 -34, who has studied up to class 8, and at least 160 cm tall and have the learners permit for light moto vehicle can be recruited. 

The first training batch will begin in March. With the proper accommodations of food and health.
